Play chess with Dubai's most famous landmarks
Mastermind your victory on a patriotic chess board featuring the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Emirates Towers and a couple of camels.EDGAR staff October 26, 2014
The UAE has never been shy at showing off its patriotic side, not least when it comes to National Day on December 2.
With buildings and cars awash with the colours of the UAE flag, it truly is a sight to behold. In preparation for National Day 2014 - the UAE's 43rd birthday - fashion and accessories retailer S*uce has produced this quirky chess board, with the pieces modelled on some of Dubai's most famous and iconic landmarks.
Featuring the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Emirates Towers and Dubai World Trade Centre, the set is made out of plexi glass and comes with both white and gold, and black and gold variations. Although on the photos we've been given, the pieces seem to be placed on the board in a slightly haphazard manner.
If we owned a set, we'd obviously have the Burj Khalifa as the king, Burj Al Arab as the queen, the two Emirates Towers pieces as the bishops, the camels as the knights, the two World Trade Centre building pieces as rooks and finally, the men and women in local dress as pawns.
So if you're after a patriotic gift for the guy who has already got a giant UAE flag, a diamond-encrusted pen and a heavily modified four by four, look no further.
