Range Rover to unveil new Sport SVR at Goodwood

June 25, 2014

The Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) is renowned for high-performance car manufacturers unveiling their latest models, and then attempting to break the Goodwood Hill lap record.

This year’s FoS (27-29 June) will be no exception with Land Rover unveiling its most powerful production car ever.

The Range Rover Sport SVR will be on show for the first time – in snow camouflage paint for some reason – and is expected to race around the narrow track, giving visitors the chance to hear its much-hyped sound. Watch the video above and you’ll see what we mean.

The new model is the first to wear the SVR badge which the manufacturer says will adorn all future high-performance models. Land Rover has remained tight-lipped over the car’s engine – or powertrain as companies prefer to call them nowadays – but we do know it gets 542 horsepower from it.

The Sport SVR is still undergoing development and is expected to go on sale in 2015. But judging from its lap of the Nürburgring, it looks pretty ready to us. Range Rover Sport SVR rear
