Hole in the wall: 1010's mysterious murals

German street artist 1010 is bringing colour and intrigue to otherwise drab surroundings.

Known only as 1010 (pronounced "ten, ten"), not much is known about the mysterious street artist behind these massive murals. Hailing from Germany, he first started creating his hypnotic portals on the streets of Hamburg in 2009, taking his otherwise drab surroundings and injecting them with colour and vibrancy.

After half a decade of brightening up Hamburg's streets, 1010 finally took his show indoors earlier this year, with an exhibition entitled Limbus at the Hashimoto Contemporary in San Fransisco throughout February. And more recently he has had his work shown in France's Backside Gallery and the Italian street art festival Memorie Urbane. While the mysterious character's work has spread throughout Europe and now the US, he's yet to make an appearance in the Middle East. Here's hoping that we see him over here some time soon.
