They say the best camera is the one that you're carrying, and more often than not, that means your smartphone. After all, there aren't many people who wander around everywhere with a DSLR hanging around their neck and a long-range zoom lens at hand.
So Considering this, Sony decided that this year, its popular World Photography Awards should include a smartphone cameras-only category to cater to those on-the-go snappers, who may not have all the gear and time that the professionals do, but they can certainly spot a good shot.
In the four weeks the competition was open for submissions, more than 10,000 images from smartphone photographers all over the world were entered, and now a panel of expert judges has narrowed them down to just 20 outstanding images.
Public voting is now open to decide the winner, who will receive a trip to London to attend the Sony World Photography Awards gala on April 23, and have his or her photograph displayed at an exhibition in London. Here are the 20 finalists in with a chance. Which one will you vote for?
