Billionaire Mansion is now at Taj Hotel in Business Bay

Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a billionaire to eat at the swanky new restaurant.

The glamorous restaurant and lounge from the international brand is now open at Taj Hotel in Business Bay. Here’s our quick review in case you’re thinking of visiting.

What’s the scene?
Spacious dining room with lots of light wood panelling and a real olive tree in the middle.

Who was there?
It was packed with lots of very well-dressed women having a blast. And Ryan Giggs.

Yep, on a table with a woman and three blokes. He was deep in conversation. We looked over in his direction once.

We half-nodded. He half-nodded back. We’re basically best mates now.

What was he wearing?
Grey t-shirt and jacket. He looked much younger than 42.

What did you eat?
The menu, to continue the football theme, is a game of two halves: Italian food on one side and Japanese dishes on the other.

Strange idea.
It was a bit. We switched between chopsticks and forks all evening. The salmon rice pizza was amazing. The smoked eel sushi was a favourite too. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was excellent and the spinach and ricotta ravioli was beautiful.

Not bad. The ravioli was AED 83, the sushi roll was AED 95, and the salmon rice pizza was 57. You don’t have to be a billionaire to come here – or a Manchester United legend.

Five minutes with Flavio Briatore

We even had the chance to talk to the founder of the billionaire brand, who told EDGAR where he would be spending the summer.

What's the weirdest thing you've eaten on your travels?
I once had crocodile meat in Nairobi.

Your favourite beach?
Definitely the the Kenyan Coast, where I have a home.

What was your most adventurous holiday?
Many years ago I did a safari in Tanzania where we came very close – too close – to incredible animals. Amazing experience.

What hotel blew you away?
The Four Seasons in Bora Bora.

Your top three cities?
London, Monte Carlo, Dubai.

The one essential item you always pack for trips?
My iPad mini.

What was your scariest travel experience?
We got caught in a terrible storm on a private flight from Tokyo to Singapore. Not fun at all.

What famous landmark amazed you?
The Colosseum in Rome never ceases to amaze me every single time I drive by it.

Where in the world do you want to go next?
Wherever I can find good business opportunities and some sunshine!
