The Lighthouse at d3 is the coolest new restaurant in town

International design and a menu from a top chef lure the cool crowd.

If you haven’t yet been to d3 to spend an hour wandering its European-style boulevards, sitting in its cafés and browsing its design stores, now is the time. And, quite frankly, what have you been doing instead?

The latest concept store to open in Dubai’s hippest district is The Lighthouse. Named after the Virginia Woolf novel, the bright and airy store carries dozens of great pieces of design for the home, plus books on art and food, as well as gifts from more than 30 international brands.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of Lighthouse, however, is the Mediterranean restaurant led by Izu Ani (left), formerly head chef at the excellent La Serre in the Vida Hotel. Open from 8 am every day (closed on Saturday), Lighthouse’s bakers get to work on fresh bread and pastries from midnight to 7 am every day.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this urban garden has a fantastic patio and a cool ska/reggae soundtrack plus an alcohol license from noon to midnight. Cool design folk and laptop warriors have a new place to hang out and be inspired.
