The diamond-encrusted pen that's bound to impress your other half
August 7, 2014
We all like to treat our other halves from time to time - a bouquet of flowers, a nice box of chocolates, and if she's lucky then maybe even some jewellery. But sometimes those gifts feel a bit old hat; you know, there are a million and one boxes of chocolates out there, what makes the one you've given her special?
So if you're looking for a gift that will really wow her, we've found just the thing: the Montblanc Monte Cristo. Yes, we know it's just a pen, but it just so happens to be a pen that's swathed in precious stones and topped with a diamond that weighs almost 12 carats.
The precious stones in question are 1,500 diamonds and pink sapphires, which have been hand-selected one by one in order to create the perfect gradient shading effect from dark to light up the barrel of the pen.
But that's far from the most impressive thing on this one-of-a-kind writing instrument. The real star of the show is the 11.88-carat diamond that sits atop of its cap. The highest-quality stone ever used by Montblanc, it took some of the 800 craftsmen who worked on this pen a full eight years to cut its 53 facets and set it on to the cap.
During August, the pen is on display between Montblanc's boutiques in The Dubai Mall and The Avenues, Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi. So if you've got a spare AED12 million to splash out, this gift will get you some serious brownie points.
