World’s Biggest Blue Diamond On Sale At Christie’s

May 7, 2014

If we had to guess what song Christie’s has had on repeat in their offices recently, it would probably be Rihanna’s 2012 hit ‘Diamonds’. The auction house has announced its sales for May and amongst some rare and unique watches, going under the hammer is the largest, flawless vivid blue diamond in the world. Simply named ‘The Blue’ – because when you’re the biggest and baddest blue diamond around, why would you be called anything else – the 13.22-carat stone will lead the Magnificent Jewels auction at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva on May 14. With diamond aficionados from across the world drawn to this one-of-a-kind piece, it is estimated ‘The Blue’ will sell for up to $25 million – that’s around AED 92 million, enough to buy almost 15 LaFerraris. So if you’re thinking of making an appearance, be sure to take your credit card. [caption id="attachment_858" align="aligncenter" width="765"]A blue diamond, or 15 LaFerraris? Hmmm, tough choice.
