This past weekend was a funny one. Not only was it cold in the UAE, it even snowed at Jebel Jais, UAE’s tallest peak. Outside the Middle East, in South Africa to be specific, a swarm of bees temporarily delayed a One-Day International match between the Proteas and Sri Lanka.
The bees arrived in the 25th over and soon forced the players off the field. Ground staff attempted to remove the swarm using a fire extinguisher before a beekeeper was called in to do a more effective job. At one point, rather hilariously, all 13 players and both umpires were lying face down on the field as the bees buzzed about.
Funnily enough, that isn’t the weirdest interruption to a cricket match. Click through the slideshow to see more.
