Remember the days of the old buzz cut for summer? In one fell sweep of the barber’s clippers, your hair was shaved down to the nub, and you went from normal-looking guy to prison inmate.

Thankfully we have moved on from that rather unsophisticated answer to the summer heat, and now there are plenty of ways to keep cool for the summer without looking like you’re on death row.

Now, we don’t profess to be experts on hair styles, but we sure know a man who is: Davorin, the Style Director at Toni&Guy, DIFC, Dubai. Here, he gives us his top summer 2015 styles, inspired by four dapper gents.

Slicked-back undercut

The slicked-back undercut adds a modern twist to a style that’s traditionally worn by the military. Comb hair back from the forehead, finishing at the crown and hold in place using a smoothing cream.

The Caesar

Adopted by 300 star Gerard Butler, the classic Caesar haircut is ideal for gents who like to keep things simple. Perfect for summer, the effortless style requires little to no maintenance – a touch of hair gel or wax is all that’s needed to keep the look in place.

Brushed-up

Trendsetting legend David Beckham has tried every style in the book but this vintage inspired ’do might just be his best yet. Blow-dry hair using a vent brush to create volume and apply a dab of soufflé for a smooth finish. Fine hair may not hold up as easily so give it a helping hand with sea salt spray for texture and lift.

Short and textured

The short and textured look sees hair shorter on the back and sides, whilst the top has a slightly longer tussle. A look that’s best kept a little unkempt, apply a touch of gel or styling crème for an artfully dishevelled look like Tom Hardy.
