Our selection of the best fine-dining venues on the French Riviera.April 12, 2015
The tiny principality of Monaco is known the world over for its extravagance, and has long since been a playground for the rich and famous. It is no surprise, then, that the place is a real hotbed for Michelin-starred restaurants.
With some of the world's most highly regarded dining destinations - which often come with sky-high prices to match the reputations - picking a place that lives up to the hype can be difficult. But never fear, because we at EDGAR know a thing or two about quality food, and we've rounded-up the best that Monaco has to offer.
Here are six restaurants that represent Monaco at its very best.
Le Louis XV-Alain Ducasse
The suffix ‘Alain Ducasse’ has to be one of the most revered in all of French cuisine, and Le Louis XV has to be one of the multi-Michelin-starred chef’s most famous restaurants. The Versailles-esque interior is grand enough to be fitting of its namesake, and the 400,000-strong wine list is the stuff of legend. Details: hoteldeparismontecarlo.com
Located to the north of the city, at the Monte Carlo Beach hotel, this Michelin-starred Mediterranean restaurant has a more relaxed feel than its competitors. Its clean white and azure interior give it a wonderful fresh feel, while its chef Paolo Sari ensures the menu is entirely organic. Details: monte-carlo-beach.com
Joel Robuchon Monte Carlo
When the executive chef at a restaurant has 26 Michelin stars to his name like Joel Robuchon does, there is very little else that you need to know to be sure that the food at that restaurant is absolutely stunning. As an added bonus, guests can even watch the maestros at work preparing their meals, thanks to the wide open kitchen. Details: metropole.com
The original branch of the popular Dubai restaurant/lounge, Sass Cafe has been serving up superb food in Monaco for some 20 years. While the food is a draw in itself, later on in the evenings Monaco’s many celebrities and big-spenders descend on this buzzing venue to party the night away. Details: sasscafe.com
Located on the top floor of the Conference Centre of Monaco Grimaldi Forum, the terrace of Zelo’s offers one of the most stunning views in the whole of Monaco. It would seem a waste to have a prime location on the French Riviera and not take advantage of it.
