Qatar Airways is all set to become the new titleholder for the world’s longest flight. The plane that landed in Auckland yesterday completed the journey from Qatar in 16 hours and 23 minutes. The return leg however will take about 17 hours 30 minutes.
With that time, the state-owned flag carrier of Qatar will displace the Emirates flight from Auckland to Dubai that sits atop of the rest. We wrote about the Emirates flight when it took the lead in December last year and have now had to change the entire list to accommodate Qatar Airways’ new feat.
Can you imagine being stuck on a plane for 17 hours though? It’s probably most people’s idea of hell. Well, in reverse order, click through the slideshow to see the top 10 – although expect each one to be bumped down a peg as of March next year.
