Plans are taking shape for Dubai’s first Bulgari Hotel in Jumeirah. The Italian fashion brand will open a five-star hotel in Jumeirah Bay Island this autumn, followed by properties in Shanghai and Beijing this year, and Moscow in 2019.

The waterfront hotel in Dubai will have 100 rooms and 20 villas on the beach, plus a marina with around 50 yacht berths. Located not far from the Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach Resort, Bulgari’s new hotel will also contain luxury apartments, thought to be on sale for around AED 3 million.

Expected to open in October, the hotel will feature a traditional Japanese sushi restaurant on the rooftop, an Italian restaurant and a Middle Eastern eatery plus six more outsourced restaurants.

Bulgari Hotel Dubai is being built on an island and will be accessible from the mainland by a 300-metre bridge. The style of the hotel is understated, using lots of glass and wood, and greeting guests with a striking white marble exterior.

Speaking of the hotel’s progress, the general manager Pep Lozano tells EDGAR, “So far, so good.” He adds, “The beach is beautiful and the hotel is in a great location near Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall. We’re busy, of course, but it’s very exciting.” The Spaniard, who lives in Jumeirah and drives a Vespa to work every day, worked at the Ritz-Carlton in Abu Dhabi for five years, as well as other Middle East properties.

Bulgari already has properties in Milan, London and Bali plus restaurants in Tokyo, but this Middle East hotel signals a new phase of development and growth for the brand.
