Mercedes-Benz F 015
Needless to say, this is a concept. The F 015 may well be what lies ahead for the human race, but we’re still left slightly petrified at the thought of not being needed behind the wheel.

The seats rotate so all four can face each other, while the car is controlled by touch screens, hand gestures and eye tracking. Like something out of Minority Report, although it does look comfortable.

911 Targa 4 GTS
When the new Targa was unveiled last year, it quickly became one of our favourite Porsches of all time - at least to look at. But for anyone who preferred substance over style, this new model should leave you no excuses.

The German wizards have combined the Targa’s achingly gorgeous looks and iconic style with the handling and performance of the 911′s GTS models. A match made in heaven.

Ford GT
It made the most noise - press that is, not engine sound - but you would expect little else when in its home town Ford unveils the latest generation of its iconic GT model.

It uses a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine, producing more than 600 horsepower in a car made of lightweight aluminium and carbon fibre - yep, it’s going to be quick. Although without the old V8 it just doesn’t seem - or sound - right. It is expected to go on sale later this year with pricing to be announced.

Shelby GT350R
The GT wasn’t the only surprise Ford had in store. The Detroit carmaker also unveiled the Shelby GT350R. In other words, a souped up, lightweight version of the already insane GT350.

Weighing in at 130 lbs lighter - there’s no back seats, air condition, carpets, stereo - the R will use a 5.2-litre, 500-horsepower V8 engine. Gulp. Take this one to the track please.

Alfa Romeo 4C Spider
The 4C was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cars of last year and we really didn’t think it could be improved upon. Until Alfa took the roof off.

The Spider sibling retains all its 240 horsepower and isn’t that much heavier than the coupe thanks to 10 per cent thinner glass in the windows.

Audi Q7
Next year’s Q7 is all about the tech - although it’s also lost a whopping 716 lbs from its predecessor. A large touchpad on the centre console pairs up with a high-resolution screen to make all sat-nav, connectivity and entertainment options a piece of cake, while the backseat gets iPad-style tablets including wifi and HD cameras.

Under the hood there are two engine options in addition to the V6: a 2.0 TFSI model with a turbocharged four-cylinder and an e-tron quattro with a diesel plug-in hybrid power train. We told you it’s all about the tech.

Acura NSX
It’s felt like a long time coming, but Acura’s supercar is almost with us. The NSX will use a hybrid drive train made up of a V6 engine for the rear wheels, and two electric motors for the front. Together they will produce over 550 horsepower.

A mix of aluminium and high-strength steel built around a carbon fibre floor make up the car’s body. Expect a starting price around AED 550,000.

Buick Avenir Concept
Our favourite looking saloon from the show, although we need to remind ourselves it’s only a concept and therefore it’s unlikely Buick will ever make this beauty. There are currently no plans to put it into production, but we might start a petition to see that they do…

Cadillac CTS-V
EDGAR‘s resident motoring writing was hugely impressed when he drove the ATS last year, comparing it highly against European benchmarks. But it seems Cadillac has bigger plans still for the CTS-V. Its huge V8 will produce 640 horsepower and give the car a top speed of 322 km/h.

The company’s president has called out the ‘established market leaders’ promising to take them on. Let’s see it then.

Hyundai Santa Cruz Crossover Truck Concept
We didn’t expect a truck to catch our eye at this year’s show if we’re honest, but when one looks as awesome, funky and outright cool as the Santa Cruz crossover concept, there’s no way we could ignore it.

Essentially a normal crossover with a cargo bed on the back - like putting a Holden Ute on steroids - Hyundai is apparently looking closely at consumer reaction to the car, with intent to produce a similar production vehicle should the demand be there. We really hope it is.
