Watch Ford’s all-electric F-150 tow 10 trains

Ford just introduced its all-electric F-150 prototype in an entertaining way - by pulling ten double-decker rail cars. One of the Middle East’s favourite pickup trucks is getting the battery power treatment from 2020. And this show of strength is bound to convince petrolheads to convert.

The demonstration took place in America and invited F-150 super-fans to witness the electro-future of their favourite vehicle. The hoot and jig reactions may well be staged for the video, but there’s no denying that the pulling power of the new car is incredible. Observe…

A new dawn

That’s well over 1,000,000lbs that you just watched a truck pull down the track. It’s probably unlikely that you’ll find yourself in this situation with your F-150, but it’s good to know you could help a stranded train driver one day.

As well as a fully electric number, Ford is also set to launch a hybrid version of the F-150 in 2020. Both will be built to the same standards as the petrol versions, but will be a fraction of the cost to run a gas-guzzler. We’re in.
