Gucci app lets you try on shoes without leaving home

The Gucci app is just one more great excuse to never leave your house. No, really. With this new smartphone application you won’t have to worry about the crowds at the mall ever again.

What we have here is an example of AR (Augmented Reality). Gucci’s groundbreaking free app allows you to point your phone towards your feet and try on a virtual pair of Ace sneakers. All from the comfort of your own home. Or office.

The technology allows you to scroll through a selection of Gucci Ace sneakers to ‘try’ before you buy. Obviously, you won’t be able to feel the fit of the footwear through your smartphone, but you’ll at least get to see what they look like with different trousers.

This is no mean feat by Gucci, by the way. The app is a world first and could revolutionise how the fashion industry sells its products to time-poor, mall-fearing consumers. Expect to see a whole bunch of brands following Gucci’s lead in the near future.
