Indian street style captured in new book

Words by Rob Chilton

American photographer and blogger Scott Schuman captures the everyday style icons of the subcontinent for a new book published by Taschen.

A goat farmer in Balotra, a young hipster in Mumbai and an old gent reading the newspaper in Jaipur – three men from different walks of life but all possessing a distinct sense of style.

These people, and dozens more like them, have been captured by renowned American photographer Scott Schuman for a new book, The Sartorialist: India, a spin-off of his successful street style blog The Sartorialist that he began 20 years ago.

Labeled as a “photographic tribute to the country’s diversity and splendour,” the book documents Schuman’s numerous trips across the length and breadth of India’s stylish streets.
