It doesn’t seem like that long ago that we were complaining about the lack of things to see with regards PlayStation 5. But thanks to Yasuhiro Ootori, VP of Mechanical Design at Sony Interactive Entertainment, we’ve seen pretty much everything.
Sony has released a complete teardown of PS5. From pulling off the white casing to lifting out the consoles cooling fans, you can now see the lot below. Why has Sony done this, you ask? Well, not only does it give you a complete overview of the machine, this under the hood video keeps people talking about the new PlayStation. And in the battle against Microsoft’s Xbox Series X, this can only be a good thing.
What you’ll notice is that PS5 is huge. We knew it was going to be big, but this Godzilla-sized unit looks like it could mount an attack on Japan. Jokes aside, it will almost certainly fit in the slot where your current setup lies, but - yikes - it’s a big boy.
There’s a lot of gubbins inside that massive case, but we’re yet to hear it in action. The noise coming off a PS4 Pro is embarrassingly loud so we’re hoping the PS5 is as peaceful as a sleeping baby.
Anyway, here’s the teardown…
