Does the New iPhone Have the X(S) Factor?

Words by Gareth Warren

If you’re planning on picking up the new iPhone XS solely for bragging rights there is no point. No one will know you have the new XS unless you pick it up in roe gold. Go large and pick up the XS Max – that way everyone will know that you have the new iPhone.

Apple has done it again. They have reinvented the ‘Best iPhone Ever’ by releasing the newer, ‘Best iPhone Ever’ – the XS.

But now, iPhone X owners (myself included) are struggling to find a reason – or four thousand reasons – to upgrade to the new device.

In short it’s the slight differences that count, here: the display on the XS is slightly better, the processor is slightly faster, the speakers are slightly louder, and the battery lasts slightly longer.

The design and dimensions between the old and new models are identical. However, the XS is 3g heavier but, unless you deal in antimatter, this is no big deal.

The iPhone X was only able to survive one metre of water, but the new IP68 certification means the XS can take a swim in water three times that depth.

We will say kudos for the camera though. The iPhone X barely competed with the likes of the Pixel 2 or the Huawei P20 Pro, but the XS has set out to fix that with its upgraded camera.
