Kevin Pietersen tackles rhino poachers with the help of Hublot

Words by Rob Chilton

Former cricketer leads the charge in the battle to protect wildlife.

On the cricket field Kevin Pietersen was adept at demolishing bowling attacks, but post retirement he’s taking on a far more sinister foe. The South African is passionately defending rhinoceros from poachers through his SORAI foundation (Save Our Rhino Africa India) and has now enlisted the help of Hublot to help him in his battle.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Hublot’s Big Bang Unico SORAI will go to Care for Wild, the largest rhino orphanage and sanctuary in the world. Other funds will buy nocturnal surveillance equipment that will help the South Africa National Parks to stay ahead of poachers.

Limited to 100 pieces, the 45mm sand-coloured watch features a white rhino on a subdial at 9 o’clock. The collaboration between Hublot and SORAI, Pietersen says, “gives huge amounts of visibility to an incredible cause, on a global scale. By partnering, we are doubling the voices.”
