We’re about to hit the peak of how clear TV visuals can be as 8K resolution becomes the norm in the industry. They’re already at their thinnest, lightest and biggest. So how do manufacturers stay ahead of the game? Well, if you’re Samsung, you put your TVs on a swivel.
At CES 2020, the tech giant introduces us to the Sero - the world’s first rotating 4K flatscreen panel. The screen can be switched from landscape to portrait in the blink of an eye.
Why? Well, although to the layman it may appear that Samsung is solving a problem that nobody had, it seems to be aimed squarely (rectangularly?) at smartphone users. That 90 degree flip mimics the screen you have in your hand, just much bigger at 46″.
More specifically, it seems to target TikTok and Instagram video viewers who don’t want to watch their favourite creators with black bars either side of the footage.
