NewsMichael B. Jordan Stars in Coach’s “Words Matter” Short

Words by Nathan Irvine

Spike Lee directs the Creed star in Coach's global campaign "Words Matter".

Hot on the heels of his Oscar triumph for BlackKklansman comes a blink-and-you’ll-miss it short from Spike Lee.

Titled Words Matter, and starring Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan, the film is presented by Coach and represents the luxury brands values of inclusion, optimism and courage.

The evocative piece sees Michael B. Jordan picking his way through a spot in the desert. He picks up stones with negative words on them and tosses them away, before finding ones with positive ones such as “love” and placing it on a child’s swing set.

A deep message to always encourage our children to be positive, perhaps? Regardless of our accuracy, the whole one minute and 30 seconds definitely gets you thinking.

Jordan, who’s an ambassador and face of Coach, says ““Collaborating with the iconic Spike Lee on this short film for Coach was an inspirational experience.”

He continued “Spike’s art has moved the cultural dial for decades. I’m proud of the powerful messaging of this film and to be working alongside a brand that cares about putting that narrative into the world as much as I do.”

“I’m honoured to get to collaborate with giants in their respective fields, Michael B. Jordan and Coach,” said Lee. “It was truly a magical day working, shooting in the desert. Enjoy.”
