Ruben Loftus-Cheek models for Burberry

Out of action with an injury since May, footballer Ruben Loftus-Cheek has not only been patiently undergoing rehab but also doing a bit of modelling on the side. The Chelsea and England midfielder appeared in Burberry’s festive campaign, dressed in a sharp black suit and Burberry check duffel coat alongside model Carla Bruni.

Loftus-Cheek said he “thoroughly enjoyed” the shoot and added with a grin, “Taking a few shots with Carla Bruni was a bonus.” Other models in the shoot included Fran Summers, brand ambassadors Zhou Dongyu and Yoo Ah-in, Shay, Ikram Abdi Omar, Lea T, Boychild, Wu Tsang, Cecilia Chancellor, Sasha Pivovarova and Marina Morena. Models danced to ‘What Is Love?’ by Deee-Lite and were shot by renowned photography duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.

Burberry’s chief creative officer, Riccardo Tisci said, “I am connected to the idea of unity, togetherness and challenging the perception of what love is today. This for me is the real spirit of the season. It’s one of my favourite times of the year – when I can stop, reflect and reconnect with those who make me feel happy and at home, no matter where I am in the world.” Speaking of Tisci, Loftus-Cheek said, “It’s amazing to work with someone who is at the top of the world at what they do. You could see the love for what Riccardo does.”
