NewsSteph Curry’s Ridiculous New Basketball Shoe

Words by Rob Chilton

Stephen Curry’s new court shoe is packed with so much technological innovation that it should probably receive a pay cheque and a jersey number from the Golden State Warriors. Here’s the lowdown:

The Curry 6 from Under Armour is designed for quick movement and rapid directional change – something that should come in handy when Curry wears them on court.

The shoe comes in various colours (only black and red are available in the UAE) and is equipped with a knitted upper made from polyester yarn to give a breathable, compression-like fit.

A full-length HOVR midsole sits within a piece of energy webbing in this lightweight shoe and provides impact absorption and energy return.

The chunky external heel provides support and stability for the Warriors’ number 30. The full-length speed plate, meanwhile, keeps players on the balls of their feet to aid acceleration. Curry’s mantra ‘I can do all things’ is found on the sole of the AED 699 basketball shoe alongside his signature.

“Stephen Curry runs about 2.3 miles per game, and that’s why we wanted to design a shoe that was more like a running shoe for him,” explains Leon Gu, designer of the Curry 6.
