Weekend GuideThree Things To Do in Dubai This Weekend: Sneakers, Le Brunchette, Talk Fit

Words by EDGAR Daily

Tired of the usual “10 things to do this weekend”? Yep, so are we. Instead of that nonsense, we’re going to share what Team Edgar is up to. Catch you there!

Gareth is staring longingly at sneakers, Tom is going from Belgium to Bahrain, all the while Rob is talking healthy.

Gareth: Sole DXB

I’ll be at Sole DXB, come find me there and say Hi! I’ll be the one rocking PUMA’s RS-X Toys (without any irony whatsoever, I genuinely like these lego blocks for the feet of supposed adults). I will also be staring at everyone else’s sneakers. A lot. Don’t worry this is normal. I have a sneaker fettish. There, I said it. Thus, Sole DXB is like a Christmas come early for me. A Christmas with all the best presents you ever asked for. And actually got them. No knitted monstrosities from Nan. Just straight up awesome stuff.

I’ll also be interviewing Kerby Jean-Raymond — the genius behind Pyer Moss — on his exclusive collab with Reebok. Stay tuned to EDGAR Daily for that.

Tom: Stella Artois Le Brunchette

One of the many weaknesses that reinforces (with a vengeance) the fact that I’m a mere human is Belgian hops. And efficient brunches. The combination of which is absolute kryptonite to my level-headed coolness. Given the preamble, the Stella Artois Le Brunchette is this weekend’s kryptonite of choice. Two hours of free-flowing Stella accompanied by cold cuts and sharing platters: you can’t go wrong. Not too long that brunch become a mission in self destruction. And not too short that you don’t get value for money.

Stella’s Le Brunchette is running in Dubai across all good Stella-selling outlets (19 to be precise), from December 1-30. The “hero” locations are Barasti and Café Artois. You’ll find me in the latter. Chin chin.

(I’ll then be heading over to Bahrain for the Middle East Ironman Championship… not to compete.)

Rob: Dubai Active Show

This weekend every gym rat in the city will be at World Trade Centre for the Dubai Active Show, a two-day fitness festival packed with talks, classes and exhibitions. I’ll be there – in my civvies, not in my gym kit – talking on a panel about how the fitness industry can communicate better with the media. The closest I’ll get to actually doing something active will be sipping a protein smoothie afterwards.
