As well as providing safe and comfortable kit, Under Armour will also help prepare astronauts for the physical demands of space travel with specially-designed fitness and recovery programmes dealing with mobility, strength, fitness, nutrition and sleep.

Virgin Galactic’s most recent test flight came in December when two astronauts – Mark Stucky and C.J Sturckow – flew Branson’s Unity spacecraft almost 83 kilometres above Earth. The company’s first commercial space flight with passengers is “tantalisingly close” said Branson, who launched his space programme in 2004.
