Watchmen TV show teaser trailer arrives

Words by Nathan Irvine

But who will watch them?

HBO has announced its latest blockbuster TV show. Watchmen, based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons graphic novel of the same name, will thrust fans into the alternative reality where superheroes have been outlawed.

The US network introduced us to the noir universe with an atmospheric teaser trailer, which you can watch below.

Lost and found

Watchmen is being brought to life by Damon Lindelof (co-creator of Lost and Prometheus). It follows the uprising of the repressed super-beings. And judging by the trailer – which looks like a cross between The Walking Dead and The Purge – it’s going to be an edge-of-your-seat thriller.

It will star Regina King (If Beale Street Could Talk), Don Johnson (Miami Vice) and legendary Jeremy Irons as “the smartest man on the planet”, Ozymandias.

Here’s hoping it finds its own voice more than the 2009 Watchmen movie, which was hamstrung by having to deliver a page-by-page depiction of the popular novel.

There’s no official announcement for Watchmen will land on Middle East networks, but as OSN currently is the home of HBO, it will likely be on there.
