They say two heads are better than one – and while it may be a slightly tenuous link – we reckon that philosophy extends to high-performance German sports cars.
In this case the ‘two’ applies to a double of BMW M vehicles, namely the new M3 sedan and M4 coupé, both of which have just arrived in the Middle East.
The M3 is in its fifth generation while the M4 coupé will launch, for the first time, alongside its sedan variant.
Wearing the M badge always guarantees one thing at BMW – more power. With both cars using the same six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo producing 431 horsepower and a peak torque of 550 Nm, they will do the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 4.1 seconds.
As well as the additional engine power both cars have been on a diet, losing 80 kilograms from their predecessors. They both now use carbon roofs and various carbon-fibre and aluminium body components.
With those modifications it’s not surprising that BMW says it has designed both vehicles to offer high-performance racetrack capability. And as if to reassert that claim, both cars come with a track-specification cooling system.
So, just in case you stumble onto Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit, or even the Dubai Autodrome, you should be able to set an impressive lap time as you try to find your way out.
