After hearing last week that LeBron James and his teammates could be set to travel to matches on the ultimate private jet for athletes in the future, we wondered if elite sports stars were being spoilt a bit too much. And the video above hasn’t done anything to change our opinion, as it shows how Nike has designed the brand new LeBron 12 basketball shoe specifically to compliment the NBA star’s style of play.

Reams and reams of scientific data pertaining to James’ on-court performance have gone into the development of the new trainer, which, according to Nike, offers “next-generation cushioning, support and flexibility”.

The main difference between this and any other sports shoe is the hexagonally shaped Nike Zoom Air bags on the outsole, which may look slightly bizarre, but apparently are mapped to the main pressure points of the foot, delivering cushioning where it’s needed most.

The shoes are available in seven colourways, each of which is inspired by a different facet of LeBron’s physical attributes and playing style.

We’re not quite sure how “having the heart of lion” can transfer into a shoe, but apparently it can - and when the video is this cool, who are we to complain?
